'Banishment to Cool: A chairborne exploration of a 'forgotten archipelago' - Santa Catarina, Brazil
This Esri StoryMap was built as a Wiley Digital Research Archive Fellowship at the Royal Geographical Society and IBG in 2020-21. The Fellowship, is a collaboration between Wiley, the publisher, and the Royal Geographical Society and IBG. The Royal Geographical Society and IBG's archive is representative of the world’s largest private collection of maps and charts, along with atlases, globes, world gazetteers, and original manuscript mapping dating back to the 1400s that is held in the Society building in London, UK. I used EsriStoryMaps, a research tool, as a prism through which to study the maps and other documents on Brazil's southern most archipelago. The end result is: (https://arcg.is/0e8nPC)
Cultural Heritage Impact Assessment of the Fushimi Road Extension, north of Hearst, Ontario. Report prepared for the Constance Lake First Nation, Ontario, Canada.
This study was undertaken prior to a possible phosphate mine being created in the area under discussion. The researchers for this study originated from a variety of disciplines including archaeology, history, ethnohistory, linguistics, and anthropology. Alicia worked as an ethnohistorian using a range of sources photographic records (McCord Museum, Montreal), archival records from the Hudson Bay Company Archives (Winnipeg, MB), private collections and the McGill University Library, University of Winnipeg Library, and University of Manitoba Library, and materials from colleagues across Canada.

Citizen Science Expeditions
I strongly believe in using citizen science on expeditions. I first learned and used citizen science as I trained as an archaeologist with the Ontario Government when I was an undergraduate. The most recent expedition occurred in August 2019 in where I was a Knowledge Leader for Dangoor Infinity Expedition organised by the British Exploring Society and Jubilee Sailing Trust. The team hiked for two weeks in northeastern Iceland and subsequently sailed from Reykjavik across the Atlantic to Greenock, Scotland, on the SV Tenacious.
Lessons from the Past
I undertook a prosopography to establish what can be learned and be used today in the lives of women who are archaeologists from the careers of women in archaeology from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century. A colleague and I are currently co-authoring an article on one of these women.
The Question of the Complex Image: The Pictographs of the Lake of the Woods, Ontario, Canada
My long standing research interest in rock paintings (pictographs) led to my MA/PhD research supervised by Professor Bruce Trigger and Professor Toby Morantz (McGill University, Anthropology), Professor Jose Igartua (L'Université du Québec à Montréal, History), Professor Paul Lewis and Dame Professor Wendy Hall (Southampton University, Electronics and Computing Science). I utilised KLEIO IAS developed by Professor Manfred Thaller (Max Plank, Gottingen) and Gerhardt Jaritz (Graz) and two experimental intelligent agents from the Image Analysis Media Group (Southampton Electronics and Computing Science).
